facilities for the disabled

ODK ERGON invites all interested parties to participate in a training course for the maintenance of equipment for disabled people. Equipment intended for use by people with reduced mobility is part of the category of handling equipment (UTB). According to current legislation, they are subject to technical supervision, which means that only a person with the necessary qualifications may undertake their maintenance. The necessary qualifications are issued by the Office of Technical Inspection after passing the state examination. With us, passing the UDT exam will not be a problem!

Training programme

During the course students will learn about:

  • types of platforms,
  • detailed construction of electrically and hydraulically powered devices.

Our lecturers pay particular attention to the most common faults and practical methods of dealing with them. Participants will acquire knowledge about the duties of a maintenance technician and the regulations associated with this position. The classes offered by ODK ERGON are designed to optimally and effectively prepare participants for the qualification exam. The following topics will be covered during the training:

  • legal provisions and regulations in the field of technical supervision;
  • characteristics and construction of handling equipment;
  • the duties of the conservator;
  • the most common faults and failures and methods of their removal;
  • health and safety rules applicable to operation and maintenance;
  • ways for comprehensive inspection and repair.

In the practical part of the training, we guarantee participants the opportunity to prepare for the exam on the professional equipment we provide. At ERGON, you will learn about the theoretical and practical aspects of maintaining platforms for people with disabilities in both categories:

  • preventive maintenance - carried out on a control basis, even when no defects have been reported. This action, is planned in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer of the equipment in question or the management policy of the building in which the platform is installed;
  • repair maintenance - carried out in the event of unforeseen faults or sudden failures and failures of the said equipment.

Who is the course designed for?

various types of platform

The course is designed for people who want to become certified in the safe operation and maintenance of equipment for people with disabilities. Participants will acquire the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and become familiar with current regulations, maintenance methods, learn to face breakdowns and maintain technical records.

Purpose of the course

The aim of the course is to prepare participants to pass the state examination before the Board of the Office of Technical Inspection and to prepare for the safe and professional maintenance of machinery intended for use by persons with reduced mobility.

What are devices for people with disabilities?

Devices intended for use by persons with reduced mobility include:

device name Features of the device
stairlift They are designed to transport the disabled, including those in wheelchairs. They are installed wherever it is not possible to install a lift. People with disabilities are able to operate them fully independently. With the push of a button, the device goes from standby to standby. They are divided into: inclined platforms, chair lifts.
vertical platform It has a higher lifting capacity than stairlifts. It features a screw, chain or hydraulic drive. It is large enough to transport a wheelchair user along with their carer.

Application of stair lifts and vertical platforms

The hydraulically or electrically powered lifts that we encounter at staircases in, for example, railway stations, universities, offices, banks, libraries and other public places are specialised equipment designed to assist people with disabilities. Regulations require building designers to remove all architectural barriers so that people with disabilities can take full advantage of all services.

Responsibilities of the conservator of handling equipment

As part of a qualified person's inspection of a stairlift or vertical platform, the following are checked:

  • load-bearing mechanisms, load-bearing links, brake systems;
  • fastening of all elements;
  • protection and movement limiters;
  • control panel functions;
  • signaling devices and their bulbs.

Earned Powers

The certificate issued by the Office of Technical Inspection is intended to confirm knowledge and skills in the operation of loading platforms, including those for the transport of persons, as well as knowledge of the technical conditions of supervision, applicable regulations and standards. The certificate issued will be valid for five years. A person who has acquired a maintenance certificate can repair and maintain and carry out technical inspections of all types of equipment for the transport of persons with disabilities.
