As part of the technical inspections of the cranes, the following steps apply:

  • checking that there are no defects in the lift that could compromise safety,
  • verification of the functionality of safety devices,
  • checking the general condition of the crane.

The technical inspection of mobile cranes also includes checking the load limiter.

We also review tower crane, construction crane, workshop crane and gantry cranes, taking into account:

  • lift access control, security and openings,

What does crane maintenance look like?

Construction cranes are maintained in accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 7 December 2012 on technical equipment that is subject to technical supervision. According to its contents, construction cranes should be in good technical condition without endangering the environment, health and human life. Maintenance activities include, among others:

  • operation of signals, lights and controls,
  • checking the functioning of the movement restrictors and safety components,
  • verification of the technical condition of the drive mechanism, braking system, lifting link,
  • making sure the device is working properly.

In addition, the following maintenance checks should be carried out at least every 12 months:

  • fire extinguishers,
  • running track for railway cranes,
  • load-bearing structures.

The maintainer must confirm the technical condition of the construction crane in accordance with the procedures established by the UDT (Office of Technical Inspection) and the recommendations of the maintenance manual provided by the equipment manufacturer. All inspection and maintenance activities must be recorded in the maintenance logbook and any breakdowns should be reported immediately to the owner.
