Maintenance of HDS cranes

HDS cranes are power-driven machines used for handling. They are constructed from a base on which a column rotates and a boom system located at the top of the column. They can have different types of grapples for lifting the load. HDS cranes are mounted on semi-trailers or vehicles in the middle or rear of the vehicle. HDS handling cranes belong to the category of mobile cranes and are subject to inspection by the Office of Technical Inspection.

Regular maintenance allows you to get rid of irregularities and faults in time, without leading to major problems with the appliance. When performing inspections, our maintenance technicians check, among other things:

There are three types of tests carried out when HDS cranes are in operation: 

  • periodic - performed in accordance with the guidelines for each type of crane. During these examinations, the UDT inspector checks that the persons operating the equipment have the required qualifications. He also makes sure that the maintenance has been carried out by a qualified person. He takes a look at the maintenance logbook, the inspection book and the electrical measurement reports. 
  • operational - The framework and the manner in which these inspections are to be carried out is determined by the DTC unit. Depending on the situations, it may be an inspection due to an upgrade of the equipment, replacement of parts or repair. 
  • post-collision and post-accident - are carried out if there is damage to the crane or if there is an unfortunate accident. 

Use of HDS cranes 

HDS cranes are very useful machines that are used in many industries. Due to their relatively small size, they can be used in places where a crane would not fit. Amongst other things, they are used for: 

  • stacking containers, 
  • work in moving and unloading sea containers, 
  • transporting building materials to higher floors,  
  • moving building materials on pallets, e.g. cement, bricks, paving stones, tiles, aggregates, etc, 
  • loading and unloading of felled tree fragments in the timber industry, 
  • work carried out on small sites where larger equipment is not used due to small budgets and limited space, 
  • transport, loading and unloading of containers in various industrial companies and warehouses.
